Scientists from Saint Louis University made an improbable discovery. It appears, reduction of daily diet caloric content is capable not only to improve figure, but also increase life expectancy!
3 groups of people took part in the experiment: the first consisted of people with lowered caloric content of daily diet, the second - from those who kept the shape by means of physical exercises. The third group was a control one - people ate their habitual and favourite food and did not use a fitness program.
The people admitted to experiment, did not smoke, abuse alcohol and had no chronic diseases.
In examinees from the 1st group a lowered level of ΠΆ3 - a hormone triiodothyronine, controlling metabolism, and named “an ageing hormone” was observed. In examinees from 2nd and 3rd groups there was no fall of triiodothyronine level.
As it was found out, reduction of food caloric content by 300-500 calories can prolong life and cope with ageing!
However, scientists warn that excessive reduction of daily caloric content can lead only to anorexia, therefore it is not necessary to restort to rigid food restrictions.
