Cellulite - fat deposits or disease?
Cellulite is not usual obesity. Ministry of Health of France, for example, have formally recognized it as subcutaneous adipose tissue disease. Depending on the processes occurring in tissues, they differentiate fat, juicy and fibrous forms of cellulitis. The latter is the most difficult for treatment.
Who is subjected to cellulite?
Cellulites affects eight out of ten women - regardless of age, body build, weight and physical activity. It can be formed even in fourteen years.
What is cellulite?
In healthy fat cells waste products go through pores of cell membrane and are carried away by blood flow. Violations of this mechanism lead to cellulite: membrane pores are blocked, waste products are not led “outside”, and the cell itself is calcined. These cells are grouped and form solid to the touch islands in connective tissue that block blood supply and lymphatic flow, which leads to further calcification of fat cells. If nerve endings are compressed, there appear painful feelings. In addition, cellulite cells have a tendency to attract water, causing swelling of affected areas.
What causes cellulite?
As shown by studies in recent years, the main cause - hormonal disorders. Jogging moments in cellulite development - pregnancy, adolescence and menopause, the beginning and end of contraceptive pills course. The development of cellulite is also influenced by poor diet, stress, pollution, lack of physical activity. Important role is played by genetic predisposition.
How to diagnose cellulite?
To do this, gently squeeze skin between thumb and index finger: appearance of bumps - a so-called “orange peel” - demonstrates the initial stage of cellulite. It usually attacks thighs, buttocks, popliteal fossae, upper arm area and abdomen.
Do special creams fight against cellulite?
Cellulite creams are a good prophylactic: they are effective, if cells retained normal capacity for work. If cellulite gained in strength and cellular pores are virtually blocked, even creams that contain aminophylline cannot help. Aminophylline is a recently discovered substance that helps releasing fat from fat cells.
What methods are used today to treat cellulite?
Electrical stimulation of muscles and skin improves blood circulation and lymph flow, but if blood and lymph vessels are crushed by cellulite islands, unfortunately, this is of little help. This method is effective only after removal of blocking factors.
Massage and brush massage - the most effective prevention tools: they help improve blood circulation. However, massage can rarely “split” fossilized cells. Regular exercise will improve blood circulation and lymph circulation in the body, and special exercises (shaping, aerobics) will strengthen weak muscles of hips, buttocks and press. And if you start stimulation of skin with a massage brush, it will improve blood and lymph circulation.
“Rolling massage” is very good (there is a special device equipped with needles) - it increases elasticity of muscles and improves flexibility of connective tissue.
Excellent results are obtained due to anti-cellulite massage with creams and following wrapping - it sends toxins into lymph ducts, through which they are derived from the organism. But this procedure is contra-indicated to people with varicose veins, thrombosis and hypertension.
Cellulolipolysis is subcutaneous electrostimulation with special electrodes. This method is combined with manual massage to improve lymphatic outflow and is quite effective, if the patient is not frightened with 20 cm needles.
Liposuction - fat exsufflation with a special syringe - is now widespread throughout the world. The method is effective for removal of fatty deposits only in certain places and not very effective while significant excess weight and a uniform increase in the fat layer on the entire surface of thighs, buttocks and abdomen. In both cases, everything depends on doctor’s skill and experience. Furthermore, we must be prepared for complications that accompany any surgical intervention.
Ultrasound therapy - a new method, based on the same principle that is applied when removing plaque and fragmentation of kidney stones. The length of ultrasonic wave can “split” soda cell and return it to viability. Ideally, the method is combined with a special manual massage to improve lymph drainage.
