Avoiding sunburn in the warmest months of the year, and elsewhere in the resort, is not easy, despite all modern tanning facilities. Coming to the beach, we try to get chocolate tan for 7-10 days of leave we have. However, sunburn appears much faster than we think, though not immediately, but usually by the end of the day.
If you still got this trouble (skin turned red, sores and itches), try to help it with sunburn remedies. Treatment of burned places should be started immediately, as soon as you find a burn.
1. Try an old grandmother’s sunburn remedy - compresses of cool (not cold!) ,milk, yogurt or sour cream. These compresses will alleviate irritation and itching. Proteins contained in dairy products form a protective layer on skin, which prevents evaporation of moisture. Enzymes need moisture to restore skin.
2. To remove inflammation, you can take ibuprofen (400 mg every four hours) for several days until redness dissapears.
3. Since ultraviolet light, damaging skin and deeper tissues, forms free radicals, then while sun burns, and generally in fire, you should take antioxidants for their removal. Green tea and pomegranate juice are the best sunburn remedies in this sense. Both have an anti-inflammatory effect and contain large amounts of antioxidants. Sufficient amounts of antioxidants are found in other fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and legumes. Therefore, eat at least three servings of fresh vegetables and fruits (especially various berries) daily.
4. In the first few days after burn, you can apply cosmetic product with aloe (non-alcohol lotion or gel) or simply smudge body with fresh aloe juice. Aloe has a strong anti-inflammatory property, soothes well, moisturizes and cools burned skin.
5. Mask of raw, grated potato or raw egg whites helps eliminating inflammation and reducing burn unpleasant effects.
6. Never wash burned skin with soap and water, do not rub greasy creams in it and do not use cosmetics with high content of alcohol.
7. When skin begins sloughing off, moisturize it with body lotion - the more the better, at least 3 times a day.
8. Do not rush peeling skin, no matter how anxious you are to make it “smooth” again - this will only exacerbate peeling. Moisten it more often and allow peeling naturally.
9. Until peeling stops, do not use exfoliating scrubs and other means, as well as products containing retinoids and vitamin A, glycolic, salicylic or other hydroxy-acids. New skin is too tender and delicate, and all these tools may damage it or cause severe irritation.
10. While severe burns, accompanied by appearance of blisters, headache, chills or fever, one should see a doctor to receive chemical sunburn remedies!
But the most important thing is, of course, to prevent new burns! Get a full range of sunscreens, and certainly those that block both kinds of solar radiation - UVA and UVB, and apply them more often. Do not think it is enough to close damaged areas with clothes. Synthetic passes up to 15% of sunlight, and even natural cotton, best protecting against radiation, passes up to 6% of radiation. If clothes are soaked, it passes another 20% of sunlight.
Remember that solar procedures help strengthening immunity, improve metabolism, enhance mental and physical performance. But the abuse of the sun is harmful to health and beauty.
