Fashion 1970 was unusual, bright, bold and even a little bit crazy. All were dressed in flared trousers. In addition, loose overalls and patchwork skirts to the floor were extremely popular. Fashion declared freedom, and a mixture of styles was just welcomed. A Japanese designer Kenzo acquired great renown, he surprised everyone with an incredible mix of patterns, colors and materials. In fashion 1970  shorts conquer America and Europe. Having removed denim clothing to the background,  completely different styles came in fashion at the turn of 1978-1979 years. It was retro style. It proposed elongated skirts, classic suits and dresses with feminine, romantic trimmings. Retro - style did not last long. It remained in vogue for elegant and formal wear.

In the end of fashion 1970 sport style entered fashion. Then there were quilted jackets and coats, such as trousers and overalls, and shoes - all that previously were considered purely sporting. These clothes are perfect for any figure. Jersey played an enormous role in fashion, it was bright and varied, than ever before. Pullovers and cardigans of shiny yarn were popular even in the evenings, which was absolutely new. Designers of the 80ies appealed to Paul Poiret’s legacy. Talented couturier’s shows turned into an arena of fighting for customers. Models became more popular than Hollywood actresses, and news from fashion world were valued higher than gold. All of this media made fashion a central object of attention. Jean-Paul Gaultier, Armani, Versace), Thierry Mugler, Azzedine Alaia, Christian Lacroix, Jean -Charles de Castelbajac - they all made themselves a name in that decade. Even Karl Lagerfeld became Chanel designer in 1983.

Woman power of fashion 1970- 1980 was expressed in broad shoulders of jackets, aggressive make-up, weird shaggy, massive accessories and razor-sharp stiletto. In the 80th years  “military” style and “Aviator” sunglasses were very popular. Clothes of this style has a large number of details: pockets with flaps, shoulder straps, trims and belts with metal fitting. Single cut, “bat” sleeves, very broad in armhole and narrow at the wrist, and kimono came from 1980th. In 1987, after everyone tried large volumes, fitted, feminine shapes gained increasing popularity. In 1988, Karl Lagerfeld brought leggings to the podium. Leggings became a part of everyday life, because their appearance coincided with the craze for aerobics. 1988 - Jean Paul Gaultier demonstrated a skirt for men. Jeans quitted being used as a protest, just clothes. “Guess” “Jordashe”, “Levi’s” all possible styles and variations: with appliqués, sequins, stretch. Denim jacket - a required attribute for each teenager. Girls wear shoes of elegant colors, pants - Bermudas. Romantic style in fashion is opposed to unisex style.

Romanticism in different interpretations is the characteristic for famous Versace, legendary Armani or Valentino. An Italian duo brought a new wave in a romantic theme. In 1985 Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana created a tandem, and in 1988 Dolce & Gabbana collection  brought them international acclaim.

Profession of a fashion model is becoming increasingly popular, all girls tend to have a standard shape to fit for the profession or be at least similar to popular top - models. A real boom starts, everybody wants to lose weight, using a variety of means, not always healthy for this purpose. In the 90th years a totally different direction - minimalism is evolving. Designers mastered the art of refusing everything unnecessary. First “fashion ladies” Jil Sander and Donna Karan were particularly successful in this. Both sexes do piercing. All previous generations’ clothes were shaken out of the trunks of history, mixed and presented to the choice of public. Minimalism is typical for one of the most successful fashion suppliers, Calvin Klein. A founder of unisex trend led a “normal girl” Kate Moss to the podium and widely propagandized “heroin chic”style. John Galliano held his first fashion show in Paris in 1990. In 1993, Alexander McQueen invented bumster - pants that sit low on hips, so that the upper part of backside becomes visible. In the 90 years Alexander McQueen actively promoted bumster pants.

5 years later, his spring - summer 1995 collection brought the author the third Designer of the Year award (the first time in the history of fashion!). 1993 - Oskar de la Renta created his first collection for Pierre Balmain house and became the first American fashion designer, working for the French house. In 1994, in a continuation of glorious tradition, Tom Ford became Gucci creative director. 1996 - Alexander McQueen was named Givenchy chief designer. 1997 - Stella McCartney became Chloe chief designer. When in 1997, another film adaptation of Titanic tragedy appeared and touched the audience to tears, feminine elegance with an abundance of lace and transparent fabrics returned in vogue again. On July 15, 1997, Gianni Versace was killed. Fashion world of last quarter of the departed century was connected to his name.

2000-2001 collection “cited” elegant 60ies, uninhibited fashion 1970, luxurious 80ies … the whole of the twentieth century. Fashion welcomes expensive fabrics, elegant cut of garment, feminine, stylish hair styles and expressive makeup. Eastern delicacy is now easily combined with Western avant-garde. Kimonos, jeans, army jackets, rapper’s pants, thingies in Barbie style, pearls and beads - all this is relevant together and separately. 2000 - Victoria’s Secret label introduced the most expensive bra in the world, decorated with rubies and diamonds for 15 million dollars. In 2001 Donatella Versace created a “greek goddess” dress, made in the form of tunic. 60-70-80-90’s, each decade offered new design finds, style changed several times. Italians (Gucci, Valentino, Versace ) and Japanese (Kenzo Takada, Mitsuhiro Matsuda, Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kavakubo and Issey Miyake) came to the scene.
